Twisted automotive ready to modify 16 classic defender 110s its been sitting on since 2016
Classic-style 110 Land Rover Defender production run ended in 2016, however, Twisted Automotive kept some 200 units in reserve, and now it's ready to modify and sell the last 16.
Back in 2016, Land Rover decided to end the classic-style 110 Land Rover Defender production for good, to the grief of the old off-roader fans. However, some tuning companies seized the opportunity and kept a few units of the old defender hidden away, kept safe for the right time and the right customers. Twisted Automotive is one of those companies; they bought 200 units when Land Rover revealed its production end decision. Most of those defenders are already sold, but the final special 16 are now getting ready to put on some makeup before entering the stage.
To be clear, these are not just some residual 16 units, Charles Fawcett, twisted Automotive founder explained how they were selected: “These sixteen 110s were hand-picked for their chassis numbers and build dates,” he said “They were all registered in 2016 – after production ceased – identifying them among the last off the line and, arguably, more collectible. They’re special, and when twisted, each one is the only one. Hence, the limited run is called One of One.”
The lineup in front of us consists of 16 XS spec (top trim) defenders, with one Utility Wagon and one Station Wagon in each color choice. The models also have two engine options, a diesel or a gas-powered one, but these will be ultimately modified by Twisted Automotive.

The 2.3-liter gas engine gets a twin-scroll turbocharger, forged steel crankshaft, and conrods, and is capable of churning out 308 hp (230 kW/312 PS) and 350 lb-ft (475 Nm) of torque. The 2.2-liter diesel engine, meanwhile, gets an ECU upgrade with a performance air filter and a full stainless steel exhaust. It’s rated at 174 hp (130 kW/176 PS) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque.
In both cases, engine power is transmitted through a six-speed manual, twisted will also equip the cars with its specially made suspension that has dual-rate springs, custom damped shocks, and upgraded anti-roll bars. The front brakes, meanwhile, get six-piston calipers and the rears get four-piston units.
The defenders will roll on 18-inch alloy wheels, colored according to the client’s preference, wrapped in BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, and completed with. Billet trim pieces and Lazer DRLs from the exterior.
On the inside the lucky defenders will be completely overhauled, the panels will be realigned to make it more soundproof, and new carpets will be installed to add a touch of luxury. The seats and panel color will be modified to whatever color the owner wants, opening the window to endless possibilities.
Prices for these rare gems vary according to the powertrain type and configuration, the diesel version of the Utility Wagons for example starts at $156,109, while the gas model is priced at $201,786. On the Station Wagon side, the diesel model price tag says $167,673, and the gas version is $213,350.
