Volkswagen is working on a new update to the Europe-oriented regular Golf, fixing some infotainment system problems.

Volkswagen isn’t giving its cars any respite, shortly after the launch of the GTI and Golf R in the US, the company is already working on a new update on the regular Golf model back in Europe. These new spy shots show that the new modifications are mainly concentrated on the interior and precisely on the infotainment system.

The old infotainment system wasn’t very popular among Golf owners, Volkswagen received over the months, endless complaints about visibility and accessibility issues, especially during the night, mainly due to the poor lighting apparatus on the screen and its related control buttons.

So the German carmaker is apparently installing a brand-new screen, a much larger one perched over the dashboard, replacing the old small screen we’re used to seeing on previous models. We still don’t know if this fixes the initial problem, the pictures were taken during the day and in a turned-off car, so there’s no indication if better lighting accompanies the new system. But hey, at least they are doing something.

The same issue is naturally reported in the GTI and Golf R models, circulating here in the U.S., and following the Volkswagen tradition, we can safely expect that the new screen we see on the regular golf model will be soon transferred to the other two versions we have here at home.
