American car owners still prefer White as their favorite car color as shown in a recent iSeeCars report.
From a random sample of 6.1 million vehicles across the country, a quarter of them are white. Leaving no doubt that the simplest finishing color is still the most popular among American car owners. That’s what the recent iSeeCars report has shown; indicating that not much has changed over the last few years in terms of car color choices.
The same analysis also indicated that close to 80% of all cars are grayscale-colored, which is a spectrum that includes black, white, and all shades of gray and silver, with the white color reigning supreme above them at 25.8 percent. Specialists attribute that to the easy maintenance and the color’s popularity among rental companies and fleet operators, we should also consider that the trim base of most car models often comes in white and at a slightly lower price.
The second place is rightfully held by black cars at 23.2 percent, a color that’s typically associated with prestige and high status. That’s why we mostly see the color black in the luxury segment and on special edition cars. But despite the elegant style car owners still find it hard to maintain, and opt for gray or silver instead, that’s why we see these two colors following in 3rd and 4th place on the chart.
iSeeCars report also compared this year’s results with those of 2017, finding that grayscale colors were also at the top, while black has switched places with white. They also made a state-by-state study, finding that white is the most popular in 36 states, while black took first place in the remaining 14.
