Zeekr is ramping up the hype for its upcoming model, the ZEEKR 009, expected to join the Chinese EV company lineup soon.
The story of the ZEEKR 009 started back in July with several shadowy images, introducing the new luxury multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) to the public. This new segment is still not that popular among American customers, but it's already rapidly growing in China, where the car will make its grand entrance.
Zeekr is, in fact, a Geely sub-brand, created in March of 2021. The company represented the high-end EV branch of the Chinses tech giant. It has since joined the ranks of numerous other emerging EV car makers in the country, with ambitions to compete with European and American automotive companies soon.
Zeekr managed to commercialize its first model, the ZEEKR 001, successfully during one of the toughest periods of the automotive industry, COVID-19 restrictions and supply chain issues didn't stop the company from selling more than 30,000 units.
This initial success has encouraged Zeekr to raise the stakes and hope for an imminent entrance into the American and European markets. The initial plan was solely based on the Zeekr 001, or at least that’s what we taught, now with the upcoming launch of the 009, the future looks brighter, as bright as the new teaser images.
The pictures partially show the exterior design of the car. Revealing a classy angular design, Zeekr also tried to draw our attention to the LED head and rear lights' original design.
The photos were accompanied with a caption, well it was in Chinese, so the translation may not be able to transmit the intended message properly, but here it is anyway:
“ZEEKR 009 looking at the world and being born with a heart that is far from the world.”
All we know for now is that the new Zeekr 009 will be built upon Geely’s new EV platform, the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform. The debut date is still marked as “ coming soon” for now. But we still have no idea how soon that is.
